Hot Bods and Porn Stars Abound at the 10th Annual Boys of Summer

A roundup of all the events at this year's sexed-up, weekend-long festivities.

PhillyGayCalendar.com founder Steve McCann has been working tirelessly over the past few months to pull together his website’s yearly signature event, Boys of Summer (BOS). And by pull together, I mean he’s combed beaches, rang up porn producers, and head-hunted the streets and bars of Philly to round up all the muscled, hunky, big-bulge-packing dudes he could find willing drop trou and party hearty at this year’s weekend-long lineup of BOS events.

What are the fruits of his labor, you ask? Well, nothing less than five national porn stars, 40 (40!) lifeguards hailing from the East Coast all the way to Seattle, and an internationally known DJ and pop princess to boot. Not too shabby, huh? Plus, G Philly‘s even enlisted a few babes of our own to drop in on the opening-night party.

To make sure you don’t miss a second of the sexed-up ride, here’s a roundup of all the weekend’s events:

BOYS ON THE BOAT
The weekend kicks off at this sausage fest on the high seas, featuring the music of DJ Carl Michaels and lots of eye candy in the form of BOS boys clad in sailor getup. Also, be on the lookout for G Philly‘s go-go boys. They’ll be the ones with big “G’s” painted on their chests. Fri., Aug. 9 , 11 p.m.-2 a.m., $10, Moshulu, 401 S. Columbus Blvd.

BRUNCH
McCann tells me this early-afternoon gathering at Pennsylvania 6 will be a classy event, “a break from the nudity,” if you will. The set-price, prix-fixe menu includes a variety of tasty first- and second-course options from the Penn6 kitchen, and one free alcoholic drink, because having any more than that just wouldn’t be very classy, now would it? Sat., Aug. 10, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., $35, Pennsylvania 6, 114 S. 12th St.

BLOCK PARTY
Leave your class at the Penn6 door when you leave brunch to head to this block party in the alley outside Tavern on Camac. There will be live music, outdoor bars and a Fiat parked nearby where lifeguards will be washing it down — no doubt just like this. As if that’s not incentive enough, there will also be a UPenn mobile HIV-testing unit, where folks can get tested and receive $15 toward drinks. Sat., Aug. 10, 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Tavern on Camac, 243 S. Camac St.

MAIN EVENT
Still have energy left? You better, because BOS is turning Voyeur into a veritable circus tent of entertainment for Saturday night’s main event. The night will feature drag performances, pole dancers, dance troops, music by DJ Drew G and a performance by BOS headliner and international pop star Natalia Kills. And yes, there will be no shortage of boys, boys boys in speedos, speedos, speedos. Sat., Aug. 10, 9 p.m.-3:30 a.m., $15, Voyeur Nightclub, 1221 Saint James St.

SUNDAY FUNDAY BBQ
Sunday’s going to be all about reviving from what’s sure to be a helluva Saturday night. Lucky for you, this BOS-closing party has everything you need for your hangover recovery: lots of sun on iCandy’s rooftop deck, refreshing frozen drinks and a grill full of all the hamburgers and hot dogs you can muster. Sun., Aug. 11, 2 p.m.-6 p.m., $5, iCandy, 254 S. 12th St.
