PHOENIX — When the Chiefs traded for  Alex Smith, the conversation about Geno Smith being taken  with the No. 1 pick in this April’s draft was shut down.

Andy Reid opened it back up on Tuesday at the AFC coaches breakfast.

“That doesn’t mean Geno is out of the water,” said Reid, surrounded by a group of Philadelphia reporters during the second day of the owners meetings. “I’m going to keep my eyes open on everybody. I think Geno is a good quarterback. We’ll just see how it all goes, get this workout thing going.”

The Eagles could look to re-shape their secondary by going after potential free agent cornerback Sean Smith, according to a report.

West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith is in town for an official visit with the Eagles, according to Albert Breer of NFL Network.

The 6-foot-2, 218-pound signal-caller spent yesterday with the Kansas City Chiefs and has been at the center of draft conversation the past couple of days. A Pro Football Weekly report earlier this week slammed Smith for his work ethic, among other things. As Tim noted this morning, Smith stood up for himself, calling the labels “untrue.”
