It’s no secret that we here at Foobooz HQ love breakfast sandwiches, whether they’re your favorite food cart standby or a gussied-up, farm-to-table version. And now, Taiwanese street food spot Baology has expanded their hours and added a menu full of new and exciting breksams for us to wake up with.
Owners Judy Ni and Andy Tessier have been serving shao bings — flaky, house-made flatbreads topped with black sesame seeds, stuffed with a rotating slate of meats and fish — as specials for a while. The breakfast menu sees them sandwiching scallion scrambled eggs and cheese, with the addition of Taiwanese pork sausage or roasted pork belly. There’s also a take on cream cheese and lox, made with their own five spice-cured and smoked salmon and créme fraîche with scallion and lemon.
Also on the breakfast menu? Congee, or shi fan — porridge made with inky-purple forbidden rice — which you can customize to your liking with soy-braised eggs, king oyster mushrooms, chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu.
Breakfast too early for you? No worries — they’ve got a new happy hour deal, too: from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on weekdays, order the gwa baos — those featherlight, Pac Man-style buns stuffed with Taiwanese fried chicken or slow-cooked beef — and milk teas on the regular menu and get $1 off.
Baology serves breakfast Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until lunch starts at 11 a.m. Check out their full breakfast and happy hour menu below (click to embiggen).
