Philly’s restaurant community has stepped up its support of immigrant communities, and diners have another opportunity to taste something special while contributing to a good cause this Saturday, September 15th.
Building Bridges is a new initiative from the some of the city’s best restaurants: they’ll be whipping up one chef-driven special dish or drink to serve on Saturday, with 100 percent of the profits from those items going to Puentes de Salud, a nonprofit organization that promotes health and wellness in Philadelphia’s immigrant communities through healthcare services, education, and community building.
Le Virtù and Brigantessa owners Francis Cratil-Cretarola and Cathy Lee conceived the initiative with support from Adán Trinidad, Casey Parker, and Joe Gunn (owners of Pistola’s Del Sur, Sancho Pistola’s, and Jose Pistola’s), David Suro of Tequila’s, and Puentes de Salud executive director Steven Larson. The full list of participants includes South Philly spots like El Compadre and Saté Kampar, whose owners have run their own events in support of immigrant and refugee communities, as well as Center City restaurants like all three Tria locations.
Check out the full list of participating restaurants below. Head to your favorites this Saturday and be sure to order their special dish in support of Puentes de Salud.
