There are lots of animals at Kensington’s Greensgrow Farms. Cats, chickens, and ducks all roam there, but Milkshake the Pig has become the urban farm’s beloved mascot.

Unfortunately, the 250-pound pet had some health troubles, which required visits and costly overnight stays at Laurel Animal Hospital and the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, last week. Greensgrow, a nonprofit organization, set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for Milkshake’s costly medical bills.

When nearby Joe’s Steaks owner Joe Groh heard about the pig’s plight, he wanted to help out. So today, proceeds from every milkshake purchased at the sandwich shop’s Fishtown location will be donated to Greensgrow to help cover the cost of the vet bills.

The campaign exceeded its $5,000 goal over the weekend, but if you want to help out, you can still donate here — or head to Joe’s and order a shake between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. today.
