Hawthorne’s Biercafé — the bottle shop and eatery at 11th and Fitzwater Streets that keeps the neighborhood buzzed with more than 1000 craft beer bottles — knows and loves IPAs. And this weekend, they’re celebrating the beer style known for its dank, juicy flavor alongside its pink and bubbly cousins with the 8th Annual IPA, Champagne, and Rosé Block Party.

Hawthorne’s will take over the street to for this free festival on Saturday, May 13th. The event features more than 50 local and national craft beers (heavy on the hoppy brews, of course) including those from buzzy new breweries like Illinois’ Hubbard’s Cave and Queens-based SingleCut. For the hop-averse, nine different types of champagne and rosé wine will be on offer.

Along with the libations, Hawthornes’ eclectic kitchen is whipping up elevated block party/street food favorites like beef cheek chili with smoked corn crema, buttermilk ranch potato salad, and lemon poppy churros with cream cheese dipping sauce. The John McNutt Trio and Las Palabras will perform, and and kids’ activities will keep those future IPA lovers entertained while their parents kick back.

Admission is free; food and drink are pay-as-you-go and cash only. Plan to party with Hawthorne’s between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
