Franklin Square’s Holiday Festival Is Back with More Lights, Food and Drink

Franklin Square is already kicking off the holidays.

Franklin Square is already kicking off the holidays.

Franklin Square’s Holiday Festival kicks off this evening and runs through the end of the year. In addition to the free nightly light show featuring 50,000 lights blinking, shimmering and otherwise dancing, there will also be food and drink throughout the holiday season.

SquareBurger will be open during the holiday festival for the first time. The burger shack will be serving up cheesesteak fries, hot dogs, fries, vegetarian options and of course their signature Cake Shake blended with Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets in addition to burgers. Seasonal additions include chicken noodle soup, mac and cheese, fried oreos and churros. Also be on the lookout for seasonal specials like the Candy Cane Shake and Holiday Turkey Burger.

Also new for 2016 is Ben’s Sweets & Treats. As the name suggests, there will be seasonal sweets and treats like hot chocolate, warm cider, peppermint tea, and eggnog, in the heated tent. Under the tent you can see homemade fudge made on-site, decorate freshly- baked holiday cookies and learn from pros how to build gingerbread houses or buy a set to create one at home. A donut hopper creates fresh donuts as a warm treat.

On weekends, a pop-up beer garden complete with outdoor fire pits will be open and serving seasonal beverages, local craft beers, wine and cocktails by Franklin Square partner, Cooperage.
