philly beer week pbw hog 940Philly Beer Week begins this Friday, June 3rd. And the best week of the year kicks off with the Opening Tap at the Fillmore. The event kicks off with the arrival of the Hammer of Glory, the ceremonial tapping of the first keg of Brotherly Suds 7, a collaboration beer brewed with the help of seven local breweries.

Opening Tap is an especially exciting event for local beer advocates, as more than 40 local breweries, all located within 100-miles of City Hall, will be handing out samples. General admission tickets are $46 and include a 4-ounce souvenir glass and the chance to try Fire, Flood & Plague, the collaborative brew created by Amsterdam’s Brouwerij DeMolenand Philly’s own Yards Brewing. Fire, Flood & Plague is a Porter, brewed with licorice and hopped with Amarillo and Galena hops that clocks in at 9.9% ABV.

VIP tickets include an additional hour of access, beginning at 6 p.m. plus some rare beers and a buffet.

Foobooz readers can get a discount with the code PBW2016. That’s good for $10 off on VIP tickets and $5 off general admission tickets.
