Revolution Taco is now softly opened.

Revolution Taco is now softly opened.

Revolution Taco, the brick-and-mortar landing spot of three food truck veterans is set for Friday, January 8th. From noon to 1 p.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m., Revolution Taco at 2015 Walnut Street will be giving away free smoked chicken tacos.

Revolution Taco is the brainchild of Mike Sultan, Carolyn Nguyen and Alan Krawitz, all known for their food trucks; Street Food Philly, Taco Mondo and Say Cheese.

The restaurant offers about 10 tacos, burritos and empanadas with specials added as they get underway. A condiment bar offers house-made salsas, hot sauces and toppings. The inspiration for the menu comes from around the world. Expect Korean fried chicken, mako, pork belly, lamb shoulder, tongue and smoked mushrooms. Empanadas and torta-like sandwiches are also planned.

The space, next to the Bards, has room for 22 in its 900 square feet. One wall will be dedicated to unusual peppers. Customers are invited to help fill the 120 spaces available on the wall. Starting peppers include some the owners collected and while other peppers were donated by food truck and restaurant colleagues.

Revolution Taco will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Expect late night hours to begin in the coming months. There will also be take-out, delivery and catering available.

This week Revolution Taco is softly open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

As for the trio’s food trucks, look for them to be back on the road once Revolution Taco is fully operational.
