Tap Check: Local Pumpkins and Fruitier Beers
Can’t keep up with the swift pace of change in the region’s beer drinking scene? Neither can we. But here are some of the latest beers and biggest news that we’ve caught.
Tröegs has rolled out a new Kolsch, When in Doubt. The 4.2% alcohol by volume beer is available in both bottles and on draft. Tröegs has also rolled out a fall seasonal, Hop Knife Harvest Ale.
Victory dropped another beer on us. While the hot weather lasts, seek out Victory Cage Radler. The beer is described as “light, dry, and extremely drinkable, this clean and crisp lager is perfectly balanced with the flavors and aromas of fresh lemon.” The beer is a lightweight 2.7% ABV.
While Victory is acknowledging the current weather, many brewers have already been shipping pumpkin beers. And locally that means Philadelphia Brewing’s Kenz O’ Lantern Pumpkin Ale is on store shelves. Weyerbacher’s Imperial Pumpkin has also been getting out to local bars and beer stores. Keep an eye for that as well.
Brewpub and Tasting Room Happenings
Haven’t been to Saint Benjamin’s Brewing Co. yet? The North Philadelphia brewery is offering tours this Saturday, August 29th.
Are you in love with all of these grapefruit beers like Ballast Point’s Sculpin with Grapefruit? Then this might be the weekend for your trip to Tröegs in Hershey. The brewery is pouring a grapefruit IPA, but only at the brewery.
Speaking of fruity beers, Where the Beer and the Cantaloupe Play is a beer brewed by 2nd Story Brewing with Hull Melon Hops that promises to be full of melon and cantaloupe flavor.
On Saturday, September 12th, Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing Co. in Cherry Hill, NJ is hosting its first bottle sale. Only 325 bottles of Twisted Mister will be on sale. The beer, a collaboration with Florida’s Saltwater Brewing, is an IPA brewed with key lime zest and aged in Manatawny gin barrels.
