And A Few More Italian Themed Fourth of July Meals In Case You Still Need Plans

Dinner at Amis this Saturday.

There’s a lot of food stuff for this holiday. Free lobster tacos? Check. Shake Shack cornucopia of goodness? On the list. Lobster bake? You betcha. Free water ice? No kidding.

So, if somehow none of that has yet made it onto your festivity plan, here are two more ideas to eat deliciousness in celebration of independence, summer, and good food.

Option A: Head to East Passyunk, do not pass go, and stop at Brigantessa. Chef Joe Cicala will be offering a special, one night only, July fourth menu that is playful and different from the usual rigid authenticity the restaurant touts. Menu options are:

Antipasti ($10 each)

Meatballs and Gravy
braised in the restaurant’s wood-fired oven

Timballo of Eggplant Parmigiana

Sausage and Peppers
wood-grilled fennel sausage with bell peppers, red onion and San Marzano tomatoes

Primi ($15 each)

Manicotti
filled with sheep’s milk ricotta and spinach and topped with San Marzano tomatoes and Parmigiano Reggiano

Spaghetti di Gragnano
with Piennolo tomatoes and Maryland blue crab

Wood-fired oven Baked Ziti
with buffalo ricotta, buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes and dry-aged beef ragu

Secondi ($25 each)

Veal Scallopini
top round with lemon, capers and artichoke hearts

 Chicken Marsala
chicken thighs cooked with cardoncelli mushrooms and woo oven-roasted peaches

Chicken or Veal Parmigiana
with San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and basil

Dolci ($9)

Tiramisu

Option B: Head to Midtown Village, also do not pass go, and stop at Amis. Chef Brad Spence just let us know that they will be doing a few Jersey Shore classics for their Beast of Amis this Saturday evening, as well as “strong cocktails” for the holiday. This menu will include:

Clams Casino 45th Street Style

Spaghetti with Mussels in red sauce

Fried Shrimp with long hots

Whether it’s one of the things mentioned in this post (or all of the above), Philly’s sure to have something for you to eat on the holiday. Or grill! Or drink a beer (or seven)! It’s the day of Independence, all we ask is that you treat yourself to something tasty.
