Cake Life Bake Shop Aiming for a Fall Opening

While it didn’t quite make our big list of upcoming summer openings because owners Nima Etemadi and Lily Fischer don’t plan on opening until late fall (good news for your summer body), we reached out anyway to see what kind of information we could get from them on their plans for Cake Life–their new Fishtown bakery.

Going beyond making wedding cakes, dessert tables, custom cakes, case cakes and pastries in the shop (which they will still do), they also plan to take advantage of their great location on 1306 Frankford. They want to collaborate with their neighbors, Kensington Quarters and Bottle Bar, to make this bakery/cafe a Philly establishment. Kensington Quarters has inspired the owners to think about a savory pastry line that would use meats from the butcher shop. They’re also toying around with the idea of becoming a BYOB: customers can pick up beer from Bottle Bar and head over to Cake Life for a late night cake.

Mmm… Late night cake.

Look forward to Rival Bros. Coffee, a full bakery, sweet and savory pastries, and more. And if more time means more ideas like these then we’re willing to give them a pass on that far-off opening date.
