New Brewery for Delaware County
Iron Hill Media brewer Bob Barrar is opening his own brewery in Delaware County, 2SP Brewing Company. Barrar has won 19 Great American Beer Festival medals and 10 World Beer Cup medals while brewing for Iron Hill.
Barrar is joining up with Two Stones Pub (hence the 2SP name) owners Michael Stiglitz and Ben Muse for the brewery. There are Two Stones Pub locations in Newark, Delaware, Wilmington and Kennett Square.
2SP Brewing will bring Barrar’s award winning beers to a larger audience. Barrar is known for his Imperial Stout as well as his IPAs and Lagers. Expect to see further exploration of those styles. 2SP promises an extensive barrel aging program using a variety of whiskey and wine barrels.
The brewery will feature a 20 barrel brewing system and room for those aging tanks. The beers will initially be available at the Two Stones Pub locations by spring, summer 2015. By the end of 2015, the 2SP Brewing tasting room will open at 120 Concord Road in Aston, PA. Michael Contreras, Director of Sales and Marketing at 2SP says, “we will initially be self-distributed in PA, but will be interviewing for a distributor partner.”
As for why Barrar’s home of Delaware County for the brewery, Stiglitz a Camden County native says, “there’s the same blood, same hard work and blue collar attitude that I grew up with.” Delco is “perfect for us. It is who we are. Pretentious? Never. Passionate? Always.”
