Happy Bourbon Heritage Month!

So weird that we’d have a whole month to celebrate a bunch of 16th century French and Spanish kings. I mean, Henry the IV? He was a good guy. Made a lot of work for portrait painters. Penned the Edict of Nantes granting rights to Calvinists. But a whole month?

Oh, wait. We’re talking about the drinking kind of bourbon? Well that’s WAY better. And the Twisted Tail (which certainly stocks a fair amount of drinky bourbon) is running all sorts of specials throughout September to celebrate.

On Friday nights in September, Twisted Tail will be running a Distillers Series which will bring together various bourbon craftspeople who will educate customers on the merits of drinking brown liquors. More importantly, they’ll be bringing along free samples. The schedule runs like this: Friday, September 5th, Heaven Hill; Friday, September 12th, Bulleit Bourbon; Friday, September 19th, Buffalo Trace. The classes (and free tastings) start at 4pm.

And then, on Thursday, September 25 from 7pm-10pm, there’ll be a Whiskey Bonanza at Twisted Tail, bringing together 25 distilleries and 45 whiskeys to try. Also, there’ll be snacks. And four of the top bartenders in the city behind the long oak, pouring custom cocktails. Tickets for this one are $60 a head, and reservations are required.

You can find more info on all the events (plus the Twisted Tail Bourbon Club) on the restaurant’s website.
