All-American Bars for the World Cup

Normally we don’t have any problem with Belgians. We’re big fans of the beer, the waffles, the mussels and the fries. But with today’s World Cup game, they’re our mortal enemies. So sorry, no Tripel Karmeliet, no sausage and mussels and certainly no frittes with mayo.

Instead, we’ll be going all-American today. And here are some options to keep it USA all-the-way.

Billy Murphy’s – The East Falls bar is offering Great Lakes beers for $3 and $5 American Angus burgers. How’s that for a couple of heartland specials?

Bob & Barbara’s – B&B’s for the World Cup? Well they do have red-white-and-blue PBRs, $3 specials, two big TVs and maybe most importantly, excellent air conditioning.

Nick’s Roast Beef – The Old City bar is throwing a serious viewing party with $1.75 domestic drafts and $10 buckets of Yuengling Light bottles.

Philly Phaithful – Not a bar but the sports apparel boutique does have a 16 foot HD screen. Admission is free and so is the beer. RSVPs are suggested.

TJ’s Bar – TJ’s might normally pour some excellent Belgian beers but today it is all USA. Get two Nathan’s Hot Dogs and a pint of any of Steve Armstrong Ale for just $5.

Varga Bar – Varga Bar is an all-American bar every day. The bar is opening early for the soccer game today and is offering half-priced drafts.

Victory Beer Hall – We predict Victory, lots of Victory beer to be sold at Xfinity Live today. Food and drink specials will be available and we’ll take a DirtWolf over a Golden Monkey.
