Who’s Opening Early for the World Cup

With the United States facing Germany in a vital World Cup match up today at noon, a number of bars and restaurants are opening early for the game. Here are some extra spots to consider when you’re skipping out of work for a long lunch.

Alla Spina – Marc Vetri’s gastropub will offer 50¢ wings and dollar oysters for the game.

The Cambridge – The South Street beer bar will open at 11 in order to broadcast the World Cup.

Crabby’s Cafe and Sports Bar – The Piazza has become a spot to watch the World Cup outdoors, so Crabbie’s is opening early.

Frankford Hall – Fishtown’s beer garden is opening at 11:30 and will be offering happy hour pricing plus a cheeseburger and Bavarian pretzel deal for $6 that they are calling the “Klinsmann Special.”

Garage – Normally opening at 5 p.m. the good reason to go to Cheesesteak Vegas is swinging open the garage doors at noon for the big game.

North 3rd – The Northern Liberties bar is opening its back room and will be broadcasting the game on its projection TV. Kenzinger and Yards beers will be $3.

Strangelove’s – Strangelove’s is normally open for lunch but they’re bumping up happy hour to noon tomorrow. That means $4 select American drafts and $4 bites.

Varga Bar – The all-American beer selection at Varga seems like a natural for today’s big game. Drafts will be $4.
