Mint Juleps and a Lot More on Tap for Derby

Mint juleps, Southern bites and a horse race. That’s the menu at Philadelphia restaurants that are getting into Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.

Bridget Foy’s – $5 mint juleps and prizes for the best hat will be offered this Saturday.

Del Frisco’s – The Center City steakhouse is offering a special cocktail for every race of the Triple Crown. First up is the Mint Julep for $15. The Preakness will see a Black-Eyed Susan for $15 and a Belmont Jewel, $15, for The Belmont Stakes.

Farmers’ Cabinet – Listen to the Kentucky Derby as you drink mint juleps. Proceeds go to the Last Chance Ranch.

Field House – The bar next to the Reading Terminal is throwing a big party. $4 River Horse beers, $5 mint juleps and the best hat gets $250.

Magpie – The South Street pie shop is offering two special pies this week. Get a butterscotch bourbon pie or Derby Pie for the race. Just make sure you order by Thursday.

Percy Street Barbecue – The South Street barbecue joint “has its money on Crunchy Ice.” And that’s a good thing because it is a vital ingredient in a good mint julep. They’re $6 from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Pub & Kitchen – The gastropub at 20th and Lombard promises Kentucky cuisine, ice cold mint juleps and derby attire.

Rex 1516 – South Street’s Southern restaurant is offering $5 snacks including pimento grilled cheese and a shrimp po’boy. Washi it all down with an $8 Mint Julep.
