Guy’s Night At The Philadelphia Home Show

Guys, are you tired of your wives dragging you to the Philadelphia Home Show year after year, begging you to buy an all-in-one bathtub or new flower pots for your entryway? If so, you’re probably not the only one–though we acknowledge that there’s just as much cool so-called “man” stuff to interest the testosterone set. Still, there is that feeling that the Home Show is altogether too much about curtains and drawer pulls, but this year the Home Show (which runs through Sunday at the Philadelphia Convention Center) has something that no guy can resist: A guy’s night.

The always affable Phillies broadcaster Gregg Murphy will take the stage tonight at 6pm, at which time he’ll preside over a manly chat about baseball and a tasting of bar food prepared by The Irish Pub. Brews will be supplied by Yards.

Also new this year for those more interested in filling their faces than their parlor is the Love Local Culinary Stage, where Fair Food and Rolling Barrel partner to bring local cooking talent like Andrew and Kristin Wood from Russet and Valerie Erwin, chef-owner of Geechee Girl Rice Café to prepare dishes and talk (fresh and local) turkey. Plus WXTU hosts a grilled-cheese cook-off and Rolling Barrel leads interactive tastings Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Check out the event website below for a schedule.
