Monk’s Mad Monday with Dogfish Head Starts Now

You’re not too attached to your workday, are you? Head over to Monk’s Cafe for their Monk’s Mad Monday at 11:30 a.m. with Dogfish Head. There will be six big Dogfish Head beers on draft and some vintage Dogfish Head bottles as well. Proceeds from the bottles will be cash only with 100% of those funds going to Natalie’s Breast Cancer Charity (Natalie is the co-owner of Russian River and helps Monk’s out with their charitable events, so Tom Peters and Fergus Carey are returning the favor).

On Draft at Monk’s Mad Monkey

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA
A big IPA.  A ton of malt and a ton of hops (added over 2 hours – hence the 120 minute reference).  Big, floral, hoppy aroma and a caramel malt taste. Finishes on the sweet side. A very rare keg of this once-a-year brew, so try it today.  18%abv   $10

Dogfish Head Black & Blue
Medium body. Strong Belgian-style ale made with copious amounts of blackberries and blueberries.  Tartness from the berries.  This beer will beat you up.   10%abv.  $8

Dogfish Head Immort Ale
Peat smoked malt, juniper berries, vanilla and maple syrup all in this mash.  Sam uses both English & Belgian yeast, then ages it in those huge oak barrels.   This was originally to be named Immortal, but the  BATF would not approve that name, so he rechristened the beer Immort Ale.  Kinda silly on the Feds part & clever on Sam’s part, eh?  11%abv.   $8

Dogfish Head Noble Rot
Made with pils & wheat malts to which Sam adds botrytis infected viognier grapes, which produces concentrated flavors, and pinot gris grapes from Prosser, Washington.  All fermented with a Belgian yeast.    9%abv.  $8

Dogfish Head Red & White
Belgian-style Wit, but this time fermented with pinot noir juice.  A bit of the batch aged in oak.  This is really amped up.  Way too easy to drink for  such a big beer.  10%abv.  $8

2010 Dogfish Head World Wide Stout
A HUGE, malt bomb.  Sam crammed this kettle with a variety of malts to produce one of the strongest stouts in the world.   Notes of chocolate, coffee & dark fruit.    18%abv      $10
