Baan Thai Opens in Northern Liberties

Baan Thai, the new restaurant taking over the spot of the recently-shuttered Sonata, has officially opened as of Saturday September 1st. The restaurant announced their opening to the neighborhood via the NorthernLiberties.org message boards to which Mark Tropea, former owner of Sonata, wished them well.

Mark Tropea said via the Northern Liberties message boards:

“Just wanted to reach out and say congratulations to Baan Thai on a very successful first day in business. I had the pleasure of eating there today and was absolutely impressed. The food is delicious and the hospitality is sincere. It is so important to me that everyone supports Samantha (the Owner) and her family. I wish them all the success in the world and look forward to dining there again in the very near future. Thank you to all of the people who make NoLibs a great place to live and work. I hope that Baan Thai gets to experience the same neighborhood support that we enjoyed at Sonata.”

So far reviews of the menu via the neighborhood boards include praise of the fried dumplings, Thai tea, stir fry, drunken noodles, the appetizer sampler plate, and the pad thai. Use the links below to view the full Baan Thai menu.
