Early Warning: Welcome America! and Taste of Philadelphia


Last week details of the Wawa Welcome America festivities were announced. Each year the events like Taste of Philadelphia bring thousands of visitors from the greater Philly area to celebrate July 4th.

This year, from June 29-July 1, Taste of Philadelphia returns to Penn’s Landing bringing with it restaurants and a special section for food trucks along the Chestnut St. Bridge. The event is free and vendors will be serving up small plates for just a few bucks.

For $7 visitors can also partake in the Super Scooper All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1, to benefit the Joshua Kahan Fund to fight pediatric cancer. Each day of Taste of Philadelphia will also feature live performances on two stages, the RiverStage and the Old City Stage on the Chestnut St. Bridge.

The Party on the Parkway on July 4th will continue to bring entertainment and food from 20th St to Eakins Oval. With three music stages and blocks of food vendors from 12-7pm, the party ends with the Philly 4th of July Jam featuring (who else) The Roots as the house band, backing up acts like Queen Latifah, Daryl Hall, Common, and Joe Jonas.
