Cupcake Smash Coming to the Piazza

Who doesn’t want to taste cupcakes for a good cause?

Hunger relief organization Philabundance is teaming up with PYT and the Piazza to hold the second annual Cupcake Smash from 1pm-5pm on Saturday, April 28. The event aims to raise money for those in need of food in the Delaware Valley. Professional and amateur bakers will be competing for the best PYT-themed cupcake (voted on by celebrity judges), and for the “People’s Choice” award (voted on by the people, of course).

Celebrity judges include Tony Luke Jr of Tony Luke’s (who will also be hosting the event), editor of Philadelphia City Paper’s Meal Ticket, Drew Lazor, Radio 104.5’s Wendy Rollins, PYT’s own Tommy Up and Michael Klein from The Insider. The winning cupcakes will be served at PYT until the end of May.

Complimentary drinks (for a good cause, no less!) will be provided by Pabst Blue Ribbon, FUZE, St.-Germain and Bare Foot Wine and Bubbly. Food vendors will also be on-site, and some will even donate half their proceeds to Philabundance.

Sound good? It should. Advance tickets are already on sale for $20 and tickets will be sold at the door for $25. However, last year’s tickets sold out well before the event, so what’s the lesson here? That’s right: Get yours sooner rather than later. Because trying out delicious cupcakes for charity may be one of the best ways to grab some good karma ever.
