Welcome Back to University City

Penn Park isn’t the only new thing in University City, several new restaurants have opened over the summer and more are coming this Fall.

Now Open

Aksum is a sharp looking lounge and restaurant bringing Mediterranean tapas to Baltimore Avenue.

CurryBox is a University City-based Indian food delivery service. Order two entrees and two sides for just $8.

Roost on Springfield Avenue offers rotisserie and fried chicken for pickup or delivery. Their frequent tweets get us salivating.

Coming Soon

Get ready for loitering crowds at 34th and Powelton as Sabrina’s third location will be pulling in bruncherati later this month.

Benny Lai of Vietnam Cafe is opening Grill Fish Cafe next door. Since you’re smart, we know we don’t need to tell you he’ll be specializing in seafood.

Though an opening date hasn’t been established, the bottle shop by Leigh Maida and Brendan Hartranft of Local 44 cleared a major hurdle as the couple received the zoning changes needed in order to proceed.

Just down the block from Local 44, Honest Tom’s, the taco truck that spends a lot of its time on Drexel’s campus is going to be getting a permanent storefront. Owner Tom McCusker says he’ll be open in just a few weeks, honest.
