Countdown to Philly Beer Week: Day 17-16

Please forgive us. We’re a bit behind on our Beer Week updates and we’re also a bit unsteady when it comes to counting. We’re back today with our picks, which include a lunchtime affair and something totally indescribable…

Here’s a perfect excuse to call in sick to work on Friday, March 14th:

Meet the Brewer: Rob Tod of Allagash Brewing Co., The Belgian Cafe, 21st & Green, 215-235-3500
Friday March 14th @1:00pm / Cash Bar
Come have lunch with Rob Tod of Allagash Brewing Company, New England’s original Belgian style brewery. Rob has been brewing traditional and experimental Belgian beers for over a decade. His beers are delicious!

They are delicious! Especially when you’re drinking them instead of working!

If you can’t get off from work, wait til Saturday March 15th and head over to Beware the Ides of March at the Grey Lodge. They’re not sure exactly what they’re doing yet, but sometimes no plan is the best plan of all:

Grey Lodge Pub, 6235 Frankford Ave., 215-825-5357, www.greylodge.com, 9 p.m. Pay as you go.
Join us for an evening of something. To honest, we’re not yet sure what. If you have been to your share of local beer hotspots, you have probably run into a loud (but nice) pack of local brewery folks. The ususal suspects being Casey from Flying Fish, Red Steve from Yards, Black Steve from Bell Beverage, Suzy from Sly Fox, Chris from Iron Hill, and Michael from Dock Street. Southampton Publick House brewer Spencer Niebur will be in town for Philly Beer Week and he wants to hang out with that crew and you here at the G-Lodge. Join Spencer and a load (yeah that’s the right word) of local brewery folks for a night of good cheer and great beer. We’ll have special brews from most, if not, all those breweries.
