First Look At Osteria

OsteriaFoobooz visited Osteria, Marc Vetri’s new north Broad eatery, a couple nights ago to take in the sights, smells and tastes. The restaurant features soaring ceilings, tall windows, rich earthy colors and exposed brick. Behind a half-wall lined with bar seating is the open kitchen with its wood burning oven emanating a delicious fragrance throughout the dining area. Towards the back of the restaurant is a full bar and a doorway that in warmer weather will lead to Osteria’s courtyard seating.

As for the menu, the pizzas, ranging in price from $15 to $24 feature toppings from a Margherita, tomato, basil and mozzarella to the Focaccina, robiola stuffed double crusted pizza with truffle oil. Think of it as a calzone that’s reached for the stars and made it. The pastas are all $16, highlighted by the Candele with wild boar Bolognese. The secondi or main courses feature braised pork ribs, wood grilled halibut and Cacciucco, a Tuscan fish stew.

And judging from the crowds of happy faces, it looks like Marc Vetri has set the table for another success.
