King Tutankhamun has arrived in Philadelphia, the final stop on the current US tour. The treasures of the boy king will be on display through September 30th at the Franklin Institute and some Philadelphia bars and restaurants are ready with King Tut related specials.Updated 2/28/07
Tut’s Oasis at the Franklin Institute will offer everything from specialty “Tut” cocktails to a three-course Egyptian-themed meal. Frog Commissary Catering will provide the food.

Alphabet Soup is offering a Tut inspired menu with Golden soup and dessert.

Aya’s Bistro, at 2129 Arch Street, is owned by a native Egyptian and the charming bistro is offering a “Pharaonic Feast.” The full menu is available on their web site.

Cuba Libre is offering a an Egyptian brunch special through September.

At the Fountain at The Four Seasons enjoy the Pharaoh’s Indulgence, a dessert of dates, figs, pomogranates, honey mousse and gold sheated almonds.

Haru is on the Tutsploitatioin with their Tutansushi roll. Spicy salmon, tuna mango and a gold leaf.

Lacroix is also offering a group lunch, “Royal Lunch for the Pharohs.” Menu (PDF)

At the London Grill Chef/Owner Michael McNally and Chef Ghita Belgout, who was born and raised in North Africa, where she learned traditional Egyptian cuisine, have created a special King Tut menu that will include: Sambousas, spiced beef turnovers; Middle Eastern Spiced Meatballs; Egyptian Hummus; Stewed Lentils, and carrots charmoula; Braised Rabbit; Eggplant Salad, with feta-like cheese; Roasted Chicken in a Clay Pot, with lemon and garlic; Spiced Meat Kabobs; and Spiced Rice Pudding. Prices range from $3 to $18.

West Philadelphia’s Marigold Kitchen is offering a taste of Egypt with a three course pre-fixe menu for $40.

McGillin’s Olde Ale House, Philadelphia’s oldest bar, although not nearly as old as Tut, is serving up the King Tut-tini, a drink comprised of 2 parts vodka, 1 part Goldschlager and rimmed with Golden Sugar.

King Tut’s Fondue Feast at the Melting Pot is a four course feast with salad, cheese fondue, assortment of six meats and seafood fondue and chocolate fondue for $85/person with presentation of King Tut Ticket.

Naked Chocolate Cafe will have you walking like an Egyptian with their Chocolate pyramid nudo dessert.

University City’s Penne is offering a number of menu items wrapped like a mummy!

Tangerine is offering a special menu for groups of 40 to 120, the restaurant is offering a lunch at $28.60 a person that will feature flavors of Egypt and Northern Africa. Menu (PDF)
