First Friday, Fringe, Simpsons

Usually we roll all the weekend’s good eating and drinking events into one post, but with just so much to do this holiday weekend we’re breaking down the fun day by day. Here’s some of the stuff going on tonight to get you started.

The Live Arts Festival & Philly Fringe kicks off today at too many places to even highlight. But the highlights, well they’re at the Fringe Late Night Cabaret every night starting around 9:30. The Cabaret is located in the old Ortlieb’s Brew House at 829 N American Street and is always a treat. And of course alcohol is served. In a cool addition to the festival this year Philly Car Share is providing a free shuttle service between the cabaret and Old City from 10:30 PM to 2 AM. Pick up the shuttle at 2nd & Market.

Looking for something a bit more main stream? Then check out the Simpsons Quizzo at the Franklin Institute tonight at 10 PM, hosted by Johnny Goodtimes. Entry is free and yes, alcohol is served.

And since it is Friday September 1, 2006, it’s First Friday. So walk around Old City and check out the galleries. And while you’re ducking in and out of the galleries why not chow down on a wrap from the Wrap Shack. Messy and Picky each give the Shack three stars.
