What’s your background, education and training?

I have a unique combination of business, technology, and medical training that has allowed me to provide my patients not only with great advanced care, but also at within an affordable price range that accommodates their lifestyle and needs. I have always felt that, aside from being a physician and a father, I am a lifelong student and have prioritized education as a tool to stay ahead of the curve and at the forefront of new reproductive healthcare techniques.

I began my training as a physician by eaing an M.D. at Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel and performed my Inteship in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tel-Hashomer Medical Center. I moved to the United States in 1985 to begin working at Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center in Chicago, IL and then relocated to San Diego to do my Fellowship at UCSD’s Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility center. I finally settled in Philadelphia, where I became the head of Crozer Chester Medical Center’s Reproductive Endocrinology department and am now honored and delighted to have moved on to become a part of Main Line Fertility.

In addition to my medical training, I also hold an Executive MBA from St. Joseph’s University, a Master Black Belt Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University, and a Master’s Degree certificate in Business Intelligence and Analytics from Villanova University, PA. Currently, I am also enrolled in Artificial Intelligence courses. These qualifications allowed me to become a Physician Leader assigned as Chairman of Hospital-Wide Leadership Teams involving numerous multidisciplinary process improvement opportunities, strategic growth and performance initiatives.

What is your typical process for working with a new patient?

I always try to look at a new patient from a holistic point of view. I ask them what their primary goal is in receiving infertility treatments and what brought them to this point. I also consider their financial situation, emotional perspective, and any unique needs they might have. I think that the relationship with a physician and a patient is very intimate and requires a huge amount of trust and patience. I like to think of the first time I meet patients as extending a partnership to them; we can only reach a satisfying and successful outcome if we are open and collaborative with one another. That being said, I try to listen to them as closely as possible and let them know that they are in control of their own treatment options.

What advice would you give a patient looking to find a provider in your specialty?

I think gut instinct and intuition can sometimes be as precise and valuable as the medical degrees that hang on my wall. There are countless ways to find a provider in the specialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and every provider has advantages and disadvantages. I think that finding a team that accommodates your lifestyle and financial means is quite important, which is why I try to come up with innovative ways to make fertility treatments successful and affordable. However, I also think that feeling included, empowered, and encouraged by a provider is necessary to embrace the fertility process. I tell patients to trust themselves and their instincts in choosing a provider, as they usually know whether or not they feel valued as a patient upon meeting a physician.

What inspired your passion for your profession?

I have always loved to lead and help other people and working in infertility allows me to do both of those things. I think that Reproductive Endocrinology is one of the most innovative and advanced medical fields and requires a true commitment to understanding its practice and its potential. I also think that giving back to others and helping them achieve their dreams is a hugely important part of life and I am honored to be able to fill that role in people’s lives. On a more intellectual level, I have been trained as a scientist and surgeon and enjoy operating in an environment that employs technology, knowledge, and skill to create an exciting result. I was always involved in teaching residents and fellows, an interaction that helps shape the future generations of practitioners, promotes practicing new discoveries and the current use of “Best Practice” guidelines in daily interactions with them and with my patients.

What treatments are you most excited to offer?

One of the most exciting approach today, is “personalized precision medicine”, where each treatment and approach is tailored to specific couples to solve their own particular issues. This requires applying the newest technologies available to solve complex genetic, repeated pregnancy losses, prolonged infertility, and hormonal abnormalities in a personalized fashion to each patient. Other exciting options of Main Line Fertility Center is the patients’ access to cutting edge research programs related to infertility and other medical conditions.

In my medical career, I have loved working with robotics and leaing how to perform less invasive surgeries on patients who are fearful of being operated on. It is a difficult skill to master and requires a huge amount of patience and practice, but it is an amazing medical advanced that has been developed in such a short amount of time.

I also enjoy working in medical startups, which combine business logic with new healthcare ideas and offer patients and providers solutions that have never been used before. I have always been both a dreamer and a doer, so I like to think of huge and complex ideas for the future of medicine while also implementing real changes on the patient level.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever received from a patient?

I don’t think I can pinpoint which reaction has been the best in my 20+ years of working with patients. I think that every reaction is the best in its own way, because it means so much to that patient who has traveled so long and hard to overcome a difficult infertility journey. Sometimes, even negative news can produce the best reactions, as people feel empowered to try again or come to understand that every moment has its place in a long and happy life. My goal is to have as many “best reactions” as possible, and I’m honored to have the ability to help produce them.

What makes your business stand apart?

I think my training, experience, and acumen in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology has made me stand apart in the past and my dedication to advancement in the field will continue to make me stand apart in the future. I also genuinely care about my patients and use my own experience as a father to relate to their situation. I know how much it means to be a parent, and approach each patient with care, thoughtfulness, and dedication to make sure their dreams come true.

On a more personal aspect, I have pushed myself to become a leader in my community and worked hard to better future generations of residents and fellows in Obstetrics and Gynecology/ Infertility, in how they approach patients and their view of the future of healthcare. On a scientific level, I keep myself at the forefront of new discoveries and current use of “Best Practice” guidelines in daily interactions with my patients. Before joining Main Line Fertility center, I had the privilege of helping many couples conceive and enjoy the deliveries of more than 5200 precious children.

What do patients have to say about you? Share up to three testimonials.

“We are forever grateful for Dr.El-Roeiy’s kindness, compassion and care for our well-being during our infertility jouey. Our children are the greatest blessing we will ever have and treasure. They brought much happiness and fun into our lives. Emma is a handful and Taylor is very laid back. Thank you for our miracles.”

"I truly loved my experience with Dr. El-Roeiy. Dr. El-Roeiy took the time to go over all my complications. He was. He made me feel comfortable and at ease through every procedure I had. Even when I had any bad results, he was there to hold my hand when I cried. I enjoyed every visit I had there. It was extremely sad for me on my last visit. To me Dr. El-Roeiy is one of the best and would recommend him to everybody."

"We met with Dr. El-Roeiy at the recommendation of a family member. We were unsure of what to expect or even what we wanted to do. One of the many aspects of our consultation and visits that I appreciate is that he never once pressured, assumed, or frightened us into pursuing any particular course of treatment. He simply and effectively provided information, walked us through comprehensive tests and presented us with our unique situation. As cliche as it sounds, he made it seem as if we were his only patient."
