Eagles Release Rau, Three Others

The Eagles today released four players: linebacker Ryan Rau, linebacker Marcus Dowtin, wide receiver Ron Johnson and cornerback Chris Hawkins.

Rau appeared in four games last season, playing on special teams. An undrafted free agent out of Portland State, he spent the first 13 weeks of the season on the Eagles’ practice squad.

Johnson was originally a sixth-round pick by the 49ers. The USC product suffered an ankle injury during training camp last August and ended up on injured reserve.

Dowtin spent last year with the Jets and signed with the Eagles after the season.

Hawkins signed with the Birds in January. He played in nine games with the Titans last season.

The Eagles now have 75 players on their roster. They are allowed to get up to 90 this offseason.
