Birds 24/7 Heads To Mobile, Alabama

The Eagles are slated to pick fourth in the first round of April’s draft. The last time they had a pick that high was 1999, Andy Reid’s first year as head coach.

And so, in the coming months, Birds 24/7 will be getting knee-deep in draft coverage. The process (for us, at least) begins today with a trip to Mobile, Alabama. In the next few days, Tim and I will be reporting live from the Senior Bowl, talking to prospects and watching practices. Who knows? Maybe even a Q&A with Chip Kelly or Howie Roseman is in the works.

If you have specific prospects you’re interested in, let us know.

In the mean-time, some links to get you started:

* Here are the Senior Bowl rosters. Some names that stand out: Kenjon Barner, Kyle Long and Travis Kelce. Barner and Long played for Kelly at Oregon. We’ll try to see what they think about their former coach making the leap to the NFL and how his philosophies and practices will translate. Kelce, a tight end for Cincinnati, is the brother of Eagles center Jason Kelce.

* Our buddy Jimmy Kempski over at Blogging the Beast has a couple helpful charts that list all the prospects, along with heights, weights and how CBSSports.com ranks them.

* And finally, Lance Zierlein of The Sideline View takes a look at all six quarterbacks in attendance: Arkansas’ Tyler Wilson, Oklahoma’s Landry Jones, N.C. State’s Mike Glennon, Florida State’s E.J. Manuel, Syracuse’s Ryan Nassib and Zac Dysert of Miami (Ohio).

As for today, if there’s any news about the search for a defensive coordinator while we’re in the air, hopefully McManus can sweet-talk one of the flight attendants and get us wireless access. If not, we’ll get caught up once we land.
