Clinical excellence and genuine care are the cornerstones of iSmile Dental Group. Dr. Grace Harriman and her associates believe all patients deserve high-quality dentistry. With this philosophy, only the highest quality dental materials, state-of-the-art equipment and techniques are used to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Unique to the community, iSmile houses a multidisciplinary team of high-caliber dentists and specialists that work hard to ensure each treatment plan is designed and delivered successfully.
Their top dentists have also been recognized and cited by the mayor of Philadelphia for their clinical excellence. They specialize in dental implants, Lumineers, Snap-On Smile, root canals, wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting, esthetic gum surgery, cosmetic dentistry, emergency dentistry, treatment of gum disease and cavities, and more. Most importantly, they are dentists who understand that dental treatments can be overwhelming and care about building a rapport with patients. They take time to help you understand your treatment needs as they help you gain healthy teeth and gums that last. Patients that are anxious about going to the dentist because of past experiences find that they are in expert and caring hands, and many patients find that problems with their teeth that their previous dentist failed to solve are disappearing. Even patients with severe dental issues can experience a transformation in their ability to talk, smile, eat and live a better life without pain.
Dental work is irreversible. Treatment needs to be done correctly the first time around to prevent further need of intervention, which can be costly to patients. Choosing the right dentist is the key to the success of your treatment. At iSmile Dental Group, the teamwork among dentists and specialists makes it possible to bring forth the best treatment results for your investment. The doctors at iSmile Dental Group are happy to help because they believe every patient deserves a competent dentist who truly cares.

Her caring demeanor, communication and commitment to quality comprehensive care show in the care she provides to help her patients achieve and maintain their excellent oral health. Dr. Grace enjoys all aspects of dentistry, but especially the complex restorative issues of patients who have avoided the dental office for quite some time. The pride of helping patients return to a healthy, beautiful smile is a great motivation for her and her entire team!
What is your typical process for working with a new patient?
We like to get to know our patients personally, and actively listen to their concerns. We present to our patients their treatment needs in a way they can understand. Using the latest technology, we offer patients an opportunity to visually experience and perceive what we as dentists see in their own mouths. We explain in every detail how the treatments will help with each tooth and answer any questions that patients may have. Our providers give each patient their undivided attention, never rushing through procedures to ensure detail and quality. We want patients to understand their treatment needs, feel not only comfortable but confident in their choice of provider. Along the treatment process, with treatment X-rays, we assure that each step of the treatment has been successfully rendered. We emphasize that maintaining oral health is a way of life, because patients are expected to return to us for routine check and disease prevention as well as actively maintain good oral hygiene at home.
What advice would you give a patient looking to find a provider in your specialty?
I’m often asked, how to go about finding the right dentist. The problem for many patients is that finding a great dentist can be a real challenge. Most people don’t know the difference between great dentistry and not-so-great dentistry. So they simply expect the dentist they choose to be an expert. For the average person, it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference until there is a problem with their treatment.
I’d like to give a few tips to finding a great dentist.
My first tip is to choose a dentist who completed a residency program. Did you know that dentists are not required to complete a residency? Residency experience gives dentists more in-depth training and competency that enables them to deliver higher quality of care.
Secondly, chances are that good dentist will have higher fees. Dental care is not a commodity. You are not paying for a laundry detergent or bag of cereal. Dental work is a professional service that requires both science and art. And Yes, there are very good dentist and not so good dentists, and you get what you pay for.
Finally, make sure that your dentist is someone who is recognized by the community. Dentists who delivers excellent treatments are usually recognized by the community. Look for the recognition or publication from local newspapers and magazines. You can’t go wrong by choosing such a dentist.
Our expertise is providing multi-specialty dentistry and we focus on helping potential patients achieve healthy teeth and gums for life. What inspired your passion for your profession?
When I was about 10 years old, I was diagnosed with a dental tumor. A dentist resected the tumor and saved all of my teeth from getting lost. Although I was young, I had a deep sense of appreciation towards my doctor and dentistry as a profession. In college, I confirmed that healthcare is the correct career choice for me because the foundation of healthcare is honesty and integrity. This very much resonated with my inner character. In healthcare, when you diagnose a disease, you simply need to inform the patient and provide necessary treatment. On the other hand, most other industries outside of healthcare focus on profit and market. So I knew that if I become a doctor, I will always be able to help others and work for the honest cause of healing others who are in need. I, then, re-connected with my childhood memory of powerful healing, and decided that I will pursue dentistry as my lifelong career. Now that I am a dentist, I have come to realize not all dentists provide the same level of care. My passion for my profession now is my patients and how much I genuinely care for their well-being. This drives me to always strive my best to provide clinical excellence in the care I provide for my patients.
What is the best reaction you’ve ever received from a patient?
Oftentimes, patients’ mouths are a testimony of a long journey that led them to our dental chairs. One of the best reactions that I have received from a patient is when I have finished a complete rehabilitation of a patient’s mouth.
At the last appointment, she broke in tears and shared her past dental history, and how she is so thankful for my treatment. She disclosed that she was very afraid as she had numerous dental work that was of poor quality that failed on her in the past. Her case was a complex case, and she disclosed her personal heartfelt story about the trust and confidence she put in me that helped her overcome her fears so that she can come through with her treatment.
The fact that I was able to deeply connect to my patient was such a powerful feeling, and that my role as her dentist having positively changed her course of life was uplifting. At the same time, it was also a humbling moment that made me pledge again to myself to be the best caring dentist I can be to my patients.
What makes your business stand apart?
We stand apart from other dental offices because you as patients will receive best care and attention possible. We have a delicate job in which we do our best to treat people well and deliver quality products that will not only last a test of time but also look great at the same time. There is a lot of sub-quality dentistry taking over the market as the system allows dental offices to be owned and operated by non-dentists in most states. At iSmile Dental Group, you will not be treated by a mere licensed dentist, but an expert, who is truly good and experienced in each field of dentistry.
Just like in the field of medicine, dentistry has also branched into many different specialties. And just like you wouldn’t consult a knee doctor for your eye surgery, it is in your best interest to entrust your dental treatments to the doctors whose expertise fit your particular need. For example, for implant surgery or advanced periodontal treatment, we will make sure that you will be seen by a periodontist who will accurately diagnose you and treat you with confidence. When you visit iSmile Dental Group, you can trust our skilled professionals to give you the best possible results for your investment as we offer many specialized services, including implant dentistry, periodontal care, bone grafting, osseous surgery, wisdom teeth extraction, oral surgery, and emergency dental care.
What should patients know about your pricing?
Our pricing is fair. It is not cheap but not overpriced. It reflects the quality of the dental materials and laboratory services that we use to deliver the best possible treatments in patients’ mouths. Dental care is not a commodity. You are not paying for a laundry detergent or bag of cereal. Dental work is a professional service that requires both science and art. And Yes, there are very good dentist and not so good dentists, and you get what you pay for.
It is important to understand that dental materials and laboratories differ in their quality, thus making a difference in the quality and longevity of the dental work in patient’s mouth. High quality dental materials, more modern dental products, and premium laboratories cost more. These are some of the reasons why fees will be higher if you select a dentist who believes in quality of care. And quality is everything in dentistry.
