HUP Patient Being Checked for Ebola

"The patient is stable and we believe the risk of Ebola is quite low," the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania said in a statement.

A patient at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is being tested for the Ebola virus. The patient probably doesn’t have Ebola, but HUP is just checking.

“A patient who recently returned from West Africa is currently being evaluated in a special isolation room at HUP,” hospital spokeswoman Susan Phillips said in a statement. “The patient is stable and we believe the risk of Ebola is quite low.”

The news was apparently tweeted out yesterday by a few people who were at HUP.

In contrast with these tweets, it does not appear the patient has contracted the Ebola virus. HUP has been preparing for a possible Ebola case for “several months.” The hospital didn’t release any more information.
