These 3 Philly-Area Employers Are Among the Nation’s Best Places to Work, Says Glassdoor

And, no, Comcast isn't one of them.

Though work will always be, well, work, there are some companies that make the traditional 9-5 better than bearable. Glassdoor, everyone’s one-stop shop for the lowdown on workplaces, acknowledged those standout companies on Wednesday with its 2018 ranking of the Best Places to Work. The list is the real deal since it’s based solely on employees’ company reviews, and three of the Philly area’s very own — SAP, Power Home Remodeling and BAYADA Home Health Care — made the list. Here’s more on why each company is a top place to work:

SAP

Business software giant SAP, with its North American headquarters in Newtown Square, came in high at no. 11, up a whopping four spots from its 2017 position on the list. With over 6,600 reviews, SAP was praised for its empathetic and team-oriented culture. Some reviewers focused on the company’s “amazing benefits” and how it’s a “great place for millennials.”

A SAP solutions engineer wrote:

“The SAP culture is one of teamwork and empathy. I have always felt that my colleagues and mentors are there to help me, answer any and all questions, and support me throughout my career journey. Also our senior leadership walks the walk and talks the talk, in that you can see SAP’s core values demonstrated in their actions.”

Power Home Remodeling

Self-proclaimed “dream-realization company” Power Home Remodeling came in a few spots behind SAP at no. 16. The Chester-based company was acknowledged for its “unmatched culture” and community that recognizes each employee’s accomplishments. One employee wrote, “Power isn’t just a job that you walk into at 9am and promptly leave at 5pm with no emotional attachment. This is a career where you find yourself coming in earlier and staying later, not because you have to but solely because you want to.” The same employee said a con of working at Power is, “thinking about all of the time you’ve wasted working anywhere else.”

The companies co-CEOs Corey Schiller and Asher Raphael were among Glassdoor’s highest-rated CEOs in both 2017 and 2016. In 2015, Fortune named the company the country’s best workplace for millennials.

BAYADA Home Health Care

A newbie to the ranking, BAYADA Home Health Care is Glassdoor’s No. 100. Providing 9,430 Philadelphians with home health care, their mission is simple: to help every client have a safe home life with comfort, independence and dignity.  Employees wrote that BAYADA has created a workplace for their employees that is  “connected” by this mission. BAYADA is “constantly encouraging employees” and the attitudes in the office “make you want to do your best.” Former CEO Mark Baiada (who was previously recognized on Glassdoor’s “Highest Rated CEOs” list), made a concerted effort to “create a supportive environment” and it appears his efforts did not go unnoticed.
