Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles have both been ruled out after suffering injuries during the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 11 game against the Seattle Seahawks. The oft-injured Mathews left the game with a knee issue while Sproles sustained a ribs injury. NFL insider Adam Caplan reports Mathews’ injury is believed to be an MCL sprain.

These injuries obviously don’t bode well for the Eagles. Mathews leads Philadelphia is rushing attempts and rushing yards this season while Sproles is second in both of those categories. Sproles ranks third in receiving yards for the Eagles and he obviously plays an important role as their punt returner as well.

With Mathews and Sproles out, the Eagles are left with rookie fifth-round pick Wendell Smallwood and fourth-string running back Kenjon Barner as the only two healthy running backs on the active roster.

In other injury news, Jason Peters left the game early with a left forearm concern but later returned after being taken in for x-rays. With Peters out, the Eagles moved starting left guard Allen Barbre to left tackle with Stefen Wisniewski coming in to replace Barbre.

Stay tuned for more injury updates as information becomes available.
