Eagles running back Ryan Mathews popped up on Friday’s injury report with a groin injury. He was listed as a limited participant. There had been no mention of a Mathews injury previously, suggesting it may have occurred during Friday’s training session.

Mathews has been effective through five games with the Eagles. He’s averaging five yards per carry and has scored three times overall while playing a limited role. Earlier in the day, Chip Kelly was asked if he needed to make a concerted effort to get Mathews more involved if he continues to produce at his current rate.

“We just work on a daily basis here, so I’m not concerned with — you know, we’ll see, you have no idea. That’s why I’m never hypothetical guy. Ryan could be the only healthy back in the second quarter Monday night, so we don’t ever have conversations about what happens if ‘this’ happens or ‘that’ happens. It’s just you got to take it as it comes,” said Kelly.

If Mathews can’t go, more of the responsibility will fall to DeMarco Murray, who has 130 yards on 49 carries (2.7 avg.) with a pair of touchdowns.

Elsewhere on the injury front: Nelson Agholor (ankle), Kiko Alonso (knee), Mychal Kendricks (hamstring) and Brandon Bair (groin) sat out for the second straight day.

As for the Giants: Odell Beckham Jr. did not practice, though Kelly is predicting that he plays.

“We’ll see 13 on Monday night,” he said. “[He’s] a very competitive player, know him very well. He’s going to play against us.”
