If you’ve been lucky enough to book a shore stay this summer, there are plenty of opportunities to move your body that don’t involve running miles on the sand (though, there’s nothing stopping you from doing that, too). Whether you prefer to be in a studio or outside, there are classes for every type of fitness buff.
Avalon Fitness boasts a bi-level space, with a gym on the first level (complete with strength training and cardio equipment) and studio classes like cycling, barre, HIIT, and yoga upstairs. It also features an outdoor turf area so you can train in the open air. You can opt for a drop-in class or one-day gym pass, or buy packages. 3206 Dune Drive, Avalon.
Avalon Surf Camp
From paddling to balancing on the board, you can get a full-body cardiovascular workout, thanks to Avalon Surf Camp. The group offers private and semi-private lessons and camps led by instructors with years of experience surfing around the world. Classes are offered for adults and kids. 12th Street Beach, Avalon.
The Coastal Yoga Collective
The Coastal Yoga Collective operates as a wellness concierge, offering custom private and group yoga, beach yoga, meditation, Reiki, and feng shui consultations throughout Avalon. All services are appointment-only and can be requested here.
Sol Luna Yoga
Sol promises a non-competitive environment for their yoga sessions, whether you’re tuning in on Zoom or showing up in the studio. Classes run seven days a week. 2819 Dune Drive, Avalon.
The Private Room
Opened in July of 2021, The Private Room features two megaformers for a super intimate Pilates sesh. Founders Julia Giordano and Jason Thompson offer bespoke 50-minute workouts for you (or you and a friend), and they curate their client list on a referral basis. Court House Fitness
Across from the Cape May County Library you’ll find Court House Fitness. The 5,000-square-foot gym and 2,500-square-foot outdoor training area offers visitors and residents alike a chance to work out as they wish — whether that’s lifting, circuit training, or getting in some cardio. Long Beach Island
Black Sheep Studios
Open year-round, Black Sheep caters to those who like to diversify their workouts. They offer everything from TRX to barre to reformer Pilates. Even better, they have beach-side class offerings for adults and kids alike. 11101 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach.
LBI’s year-round gym, Elite Fitness offers group workouts multiple days per week. Expect classes in indoor cycling, TRX, boot camp, and HIIT. There’s also the option to train one-on-one with one of Elite’s coaches. Drop-in or sign up with a membership. 12904 Long Beach Boulevard, Beach Haven.

YourBody (YB) 360
YB 360 has two locations in Ship Bottom for you to enjoy in-studio, beach, and virtual fitness classes. Bohemia offers yoga classes up and down Long Beach Island, including Beach Haven and Surf City studios. Beach Bootcamp with Carly Fit

Heart Revolution Yoga

NJ Yoga Zone
Don’t let the name fool you. This Margate-based fitness studio offers more than just Bikram-style and beach yoga. You’ll also find barre, mat and reformer Pilates, and stretching classes, and they’ve got an entire on-demand video library in case you can’t make it in person. 101 North Washington Avenue, Margate.
Omm Yoga Studio
This yoga studio — formed by laid-off CorePower Yoga instructors amid the pandemic — has a Shore pop-up location in Ventnor. Stacey’s Surf & Paddle
Stacey’s Surf & Paddle hosts SUP yoga and Pilates, plus a range of surf lessons, camps, and clinics for kids, teens, and adults. The Zen Den
This hip yoga studio offers strength-based in-person and virtual yoga, barre, and Pilates classes. If you decide to practice in person, The Zen Den offers non-heated, heated and hot (!) workouts. Join as a drop-in, or with a class card or membership. 7817 Ventnor Avenue, Margate.
For those looking to slow down, head to Collective Vibes. The studio, which prides itself on being a space for healing and restoration, hosts a number of yoga practices — from Mindfulness & Movement to Kundalini and yoga that incorporates essential oils. Every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, Collective Vibes runs beach yoga at 8 a.m. at Surf Road Beach. 936 Haven Avenue, Ocean City.
Diamond Barre Fitness
Diamond Barre is in northern Ocean City, and it’s just minutes from the sand. Barre and Pilates classes are held in the mornings and evenings daily, with in-studio options and some right on the beach. Local Gym and Fitness
Local Gym and Fitness is great for anyone looking for an open gym in Ocean City. It’s open seven days per week (with long hours!), and you can work out via a one-day, one-week, one- or multi-month pass. 908 Asbury Avenue, Ocean City.
Yoga Ginger offers classes for everybody in their heated studio and on the beach, including slow flow, yoga sculpt, stretch classes, and mommy and baby yoga. No advance sign-ups are required; just show up with your mat and towel. Beach yoga takes place at Seaspray Beach at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, and at 8 a.m. on Sundays. 717 Asbury Avenue, Ocean City.
Sea Isle City
NJ Beach Yoga
You never have to worry about not having a spot in class when it takes place on the beach, and all of NJ’s classes are held on JFK Boulevard Beach and 5th Street Beach. Their yoga — which takes place every day except Thursday and Sunday — is good for adults and kids, but just make sure you register ahead online. 300 JFK Boulevard and 5th Street Beach, Sea Isle City.
Stride Spin and Fitness
This studio (which has another location in Phoenixville) offers early-morning and 6 p.m. classes throughout the week. Expect a high-energy rhythm-based spinning at the studio and mat Pilates right on 38th Street Beach. Spinnaker South Tower, 3500 Boardwalk, Sea Isle City.
Somers Point Fitness
A family-owned gym, Somers Point Fitness features a variety of cardio and strength training equipment, so you can get your sweat on or lift in whenever you’re in town. The gym is open seven days per week, and offers a range of visiting plans, from a one-day pass to a one-year membership. 1201 Atkinson Avenue, Somers Point.
Pau Hana, Somers Point’s floating tiki boat brand, was a huge hit when it launched last summer. This year, the owners decided to expand the waterfront offerings to include a partnership with Philly-based Aqua Vida. Anjali Power Yoga
For those who love the Westmont location, Anjali is also down the Shore. Their classes are held at 8 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays outside of the Stone Harbor Recreation Center. Pure Pony Yoga Stone Harbor
Every morning, join Pure Pony for mixed-level Vinyasa yoga on the beach. Classes are held at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and at 9 a.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Shape Fitness and Wellness Studios

Stone Harbor Yoga

itswell yoga + paddle
Join this movement group for daily yoga at their North Wildwood studio, for SUP yoga in West Wildwood, or for beach yoga at 1st and Surf avenues. The Gym at 10th

If you’re looking to learn how to surf while in Wildwood, head to Surftopia right on the beach between Burk and Andrews avenues. They offer private and semi-private lessons to all ages and skill levels. 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood.
Yoga with Charla
Head to the beach in front of the Wildwood Convention Center for some sand-enriched yoga. There’s $5 yoga five days a week (excluding Tuesday and Thursday) at 9 a.m., and $10 yin yoga and sound healing on Tuesday evenings. 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood.
Multiple Shore Points
If you’re down the shore and looking for a place to lift weights and strength train on your own terms, head to Atilis Gym. The Jersey Shore chain has locations in Wildwood, Sea Isle, Ocean City, Egg Harbor Township, and Galloway.
Surfside Fitness has two locations: one in Avalon and the other in Sea Isle City. At both, expect full-service gyms outfitted with a ton of cardio and strength training equipment, including TRX stations. There’s also group fitness classes, basketball training, personal training, and beach boot camp (find the calendar for that here).
