While summer might be peak smoothie season, you really can’t go wrong with the delicious, nutrient-dense beverage any time of year. Thankfully, Philly boasts a number of smoothie spots where you can get these on-the-go-friendly sips, so that you don’t have to worry about snagging all the ingredients and blending them yourself. Below, find an array of shops serving up healthy smoothies in and around the city.

Ánimo Juice and Burrito Bar

1701 Arch Street, Logan Square and 210 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield

Aside from juices, blended bowls, and burritos, Ánimo is a great spot to swing by for a filling and healthy smoothie. Get something dessert-like, such as the Salted Chocolate Hemp topped with Himalayan pink sea salt, or something more protein-focused, like the Power with fruit, chia seeds, and your choice of protein powder.

Callowhill Greens

1800 Callowhill Street, Spring Garden

With a focus on boosting the immune system through “gut healing and high-quality nutrition,” Callowhill Greens presents a menu of all plant-based fare. They’ve got a robust selection of superfood smoothies — from a collagen-infused açaí and avocado blend to a total hydration smoothie featuring watermelon, pitaya, cucumber, and monk fruit. Make a day out of it while you’re there and grab a salad, warm bowl, avo toast, adaptogen spritzer, or scoop of vegan ice cream.

Fuel

Multiple locations

With several locations across the city, Fuel brings health-forward dishes and drinks with a grab-and-go feel. Their menu of smoothies is diversely flavorful — from green tea matcha to tropical carrot ginger and iced avocado mocha.

Front Street Cafe

1253 North Front Street, Fishtown

Because nearly everything from Front Street Cafe is utterly tasty, it’s no surprise their smoothie game is strong, as well. For an additional charge, you can choose to add vegan protein powder to any of their smoothies, including the Golden Glow featuring pineapple, turmeric, orange, coconut, and banana, and the Matcha Mint Chip.

Greens and Grains

1700 Sansom Street, Rittenhouse

Greens and Grains offers a wide-range of vegan eats, including their satisfying smoothies. They’ve got a coconut-centric blend, plus a combo of matcha, leafy greens, Brazil nuts, and hemp seed protein. Bonus: There’s nearly 30 smoothie add-ons, including CBD, restorative mushrooms, and Greek coffee.

Groovy Smoovies

223 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield

Opened in December of 2020, this Haddonfield-based shop combines two seemingly unalike, but timeless things: smoothies and classic movies. The interior of Groovy Smoovies is decked out like an old-time movie theatre, with a light-up marquee, red velvet queue ropes, a popcorn machine, and a box office ticket booth, which is where you order your smoothie. The smoothies are not only delicious, but they have punny names — “The Green Smile” and “West Side Smorey” — that are homages to Hollywood favorites.

Juiced By B

1540 Ridge Avenue, Francisville

A hub for healthy sips and bites, Juiced By B’s smoothie selection is especially fruit-forward. On the menu, there’s Date Night — a blend of dates (duh), banana, oatmeal, peanut butter, and almond milk — plus Hawaiian-inspired Waikiki Treat and a very berry bevvie. You can also opt for a pre-made or build-your-own açaí or smoothie bowl, if you prefer to scoop rather than sip.

Made With Love Juicery

547 North 20th Street, Spring Garden

This juicery and smoothie shop debuted in Spring Garden this past May. Though juicing is their specialty, Made With Love also offers fruit- and veggie-packed smoothies, like the bright Sunny Day made with orange, mango, carrot, and pineapple, and a CBD-infused banana, date, and cocoa blend.

Main Squeeze

2510 South Broad Street, South Philly

Main Squeeze is blending fruit-packed bowls, juices, and smoothies down in South Philly. For a taste of summer through a straw, try their piña colada smoothie made with pineapples, banana, coconut, and almond milk. Or, if you need a pick-me-up, opt for their Main Squeeze Mocha featuring Bean2Bean‘s cold brew coffee, banana, dates, chocolate whey protein, and almond milk.

Nourish Philly

943 South 9th Street, Bella Vista

This Bella Vista cafe offers all plant-based menu items, including smoothies (duh). They’ve got a number of superfood blends — including Tropical Paradise featuring mango, pineapple, chia seeds — as well as seamoss and alkaline smoothies which help reduce inflammation and restore balance in the body, respectively.

Orchard Smoothie and Cafe

1500 Federal Street, Point Breeze

With tons of fresh fruit prepped and ready to be thrown into the blender, this Point Breeze smoothie spot knows how to serve a healthy and delicious beverage. They’ve got pre-made choices if you’re feeling lazy (we’ve heard great things about the Peachie Keen), or get creative with a custom order that you can add protein to. Oh, and maybe snag their famous fried lobster burger for later because balance.

P.S. & Co.

1706 Locust Street, Rittenhouse

You can rest assured that a smoothie from this Rittenhouse gem is totally organic, vegan, and gluten-free. Their smoothie menu includes superfoods, such as açaí and dragonfruit, as well as fun fruit-focused blends like papaya-cantaloupe and avocado-lime.

Reap Mini Mart

1325 Frankford Avenue, Fishtown

Newly opened health food shop Reap Mini Mart — from the meal delivery company Reap Wellness — features a blend bar that makes plant-forward smoothies on the spot. Currently, they offer six nourishing concoctions with a range of flavors: spinach-mango-ginger, cold brew coffee with banana and tahini, orange creamsicle (with butternut squash!), and peach pie. All blends are made with Reap’s housemade almond and hemp seed milks, which can be subbed for oat milk.

SoBol

46 South 17th Street, Rittenhouse and 3736 Spruce Street, University City

Sure, SoBol makes some killer açaí bowls, but their smoothies aren’t anything to bypass, either. Choose from their popular açaí or pitaya flavors, or opt for a berry-filled or green smoothie.

Stripp’d Juice

263 North 3rd Street, Old City

Despite the name, cold-pressed juice isn’t the only thing Stripp’d Juice is slinging behind the counter. This Old City shop also has a variety of energizing smoothies, like their riff on cold brew coffee and an elevated peanut butter and jelly blend. (They also have bowls, toasts, and wellness shots!)

The Wellness Refinery

216 Church Street, Old City

The Wellness Refinery has become a Philly fan favorite, not only for their infrared sauna and health marketplace, but for their tonic bar serving good-for-you drinks. Designed by their in-house certified nutrition specialist, all of their organic smoothies put superfoods and adaptogenic herbs at the forefront, with ingredients like kale, pistachios, tahini, and chlorella in the mix. You can also get lattes, teas, and fresh-pressed juices.
