Happy November, Be Well Philly fam! It’s the first of the month, which means we get to share some stellar news. If you’ve been with us for a while now, you know what we’re talking about. If you’re new, we’re happy you’re here — you’re in for a treat.

Now let’s get to the good stuff. We’re excited to announce our November Studio of the Month is Teranga Yoga!

Teranga started as a series of pop-up yoga classes out of owner Joanna Da Sylva’s home in early 2018. A year and a half later, Teranga became a brick-and-mortar studio in Bella Vista. One of the things that makes Teranga stand out from other yoga studios is its emphasis on music. The “mindful playlists” you’ll hear during your practice feature songs from around the world — from Senegal to the Caribbean, from Asia to the States. Da Sylva’s goal is to make sure, as much as she can, that anyone who walks through the doors of her studio and rolls out their mat feels welcomed, included, and at peace, almost like they are transported to their own home, wherever that may be. In addition to eclectic and inclusive beats, Teranga offers a wide range of yoga classes, including hip-hop yoga, foundational movement, detox yoga, and candlelit zen, solidifying the fact that there’s something for everyone.

As always, our Be Well Philly members receive one complimentary class at our featured studio with a special code that we’ll be emailing you shortly. Not a member? Make it official by joining here. Just remember: Your free class at Teranga is good for November only, so make sure you use it before it expires after the 30th!

Plus, to get the most out of your mat, make sure to sign up here for your chance to be part of our Teranga Underground event. Speaking of which, we have an announcement to make: For the first time, we will be charging $10 to attend Be Well Philly Underground this month, and that will be the plan going forward. While we very much believe in creating opportunities for free fitness, the high number of no-shows at Underground has pushed us to try something new. We hope that charging a low fee — and therefore encouraging people to come for what they paid for — will allow us to introduce even more people to activities they wouldn’t have otherwise pursued.

However, Be Well Philly members will not have to pay for Underground; your membership covers that cost. (Note that that does not mean you are guaranteed a spot at Underground; you still have to try to snag a ticket when the email goes out five days ahead of the event.)
