Philadelphia International Airport Just Added a Third Breastfeeding Pod for New Moms

There's now a Mamava breastfeeding pod in Terminal A.

Traveling while breastfeeding isn’t typically a great experience for new moms — it’s not like huge, public spaces are known for their quiet, clean, private atmospheres, after all. But Philadelphia International Airport seems to be making strides to make it a little more pleasant for the new moms passing through their terminals.

In March, the airport added a new Mamava nursing suite — a.k.a. a breastfeeding pod — to Terminal F. This new suite, which is free to use and comes equipped with a locking door, fold-down table, power outlet, benches, and enough space to bring in a stroller or luggage, was designed to complement the airport’s existing Minute Suites as a place for moms to pump or breastfeed in peace and quiet.

The suite was a hit, apparently, and in August the airport announced that they’d be adding two more: “The Mamava pod was such a success that we decided to bring in two more, and we could not be more excited,” airport CEO Chellie Cameron said in a press release. “Having additional lactation areas throughout the airport will better accommodate nursing mothers by giving them more clean and comfortable spaces to nurse.”

The second Mamava pod opened in Terminal B/C in August, and now a third one has just been unveiled in Terminal A by gate A-15.

These additions are just part of some recent updates to the airport — they’ve also added a new “Short Story Dispenser” to entertain travelers, a Quiet Room, and the airport’s first permanent animal relief area (good news if Fido is joining you on your flight!).

“We take pride in being more than a place to catch flights,” said Cameron in a press release. “Our goals are to provide some 81,000 daily passengers with an enjoyable experience while they travel through our airport.”
