You know what’s wild? The fact that Pure Barre has been churning out their muscle-burning workouts in Philly for eight whole years. Having opened in the summer of 2010, on Saturday, August 18, the Rittenhouse studio is celebrating its eighth anniversary with free Pure Barre classes for all.
Starting at 8 a.m., the studio will be running five back-to-back free Pure Barre classes every hour, on the hour, until noon. And since getting out of bed on a Saturday before noon isn’t the easiest, they’ll also have Bluestone Lane on site, serving up coffees for all the devoted early risers.
While the first four classes of the day will be the traditional Pure Barre sessions, with full-body toning using props like balls and a ballet bar. The last class at noon, however, will be an “Empower” workout. If you’re unfamiliar with this Pure Barre class, it’s essentially barre turned up a notch, with cardio circuits mixed in between strength training, which is done using bodyweight resistance, ankle weights, and six-inch step-up platforms. Be prepared to feel the burn in a big way — this class isn’t easy (though, like all Pure Barre classes, it can be modified to different ability levels).
Oh, and since it’s not a party without prizes, Pure Barre will also be raffling off two tickets to see Justin Timberlake performs in Philadelphia when he in December.
Pure Barre is located at 1701 Walnut Street in Rittenhouse. You can sign up for the free Pure Barre classes on Saturday here.
