This Awesome Biking and Camping Adventure Trip Is Returning to Philly in August

There are some things that just go together. Peanut butter and jelly. Beyoncé and Jay Z. Pizza and Ranch dressing (don’t fight me on it). And now: biking and camping.

For the third year, Bikeout will lead Philadelphians on a biking and camping adventure out of town. This year, the trip is open to 200 attendees, who will all bring their backpacks and saddlebags filled for a 38-mile bike along the Schuylkill River Trail to a 15-acre farm outside of Phoenixville called Sankanac CSA.

Upon arrival, each biker will be responsible to set up their own campsite then get ready to tuck into a farm-to-table meal made by Greensgrow Community Kitchen and Drew Alexandra Gold. Beverages will be provided by Victory Brewing Company and Baba’s Brew kombucha, while Universal Cave will keep the party pumping with good tunes.

The next morning, everyone will enjoy a locally-sourced breakfast, then compete in a camp coffee making competition, hosted by United by Blue. Before making the trek back to Philly, attendees will also have the opportunity to join a five-mile ride around the Phoenixville area, a biodynamics workshop, a bike mechanic workshop, a farm tour, or a yoga class led by Maha Yoga.

After the morning’s activities, the crew will saddle up again for the ride home. The trail is almost entirely paved, save for a five-mile stretch, and Trophy Bikes, Firth & Wilson, Fairmount and Brewerytown Bicycles, Riverbend Cycles, Neighborhood Bike Works, and CyclesPHL will all provide support and on-site maintenance throughout, should you run into any bike issues.

Bikeout is scheduled for August 25 through 26. Tickets are $115 for those who plan to haul their camping gear with them. Alternatively, for $10 more, you can get a “supported” trip ticket that includes having your gear delivered to the campsite for you. Both tickets will be available for purchase here, starting July 11.
