If there’s one thing we here at Be Well Philly can really get behind, it’s helping kids get started on a path of health and wellness at a young age. That’s why we’re excited to see that Philly yogi Adriana Adelé and Roots2Rise are partnering on a very special kind of summer camp: A Camp for Girls Who S.L.A.Y. (Yoga and Self-Care).
This week-long camp at Cobbs Creek Recreation Center will give girls ages 11 to 14 the chance to learn all about yoga, mindfulness, self-expression, nutrition, and self-care through local yoga and wellness pros. The week will include everything from exploring different yoga practices to DIYing body scrubs to learning about nutrition and using food as fuel for their bodies. (Honestly, it sounds so good we’d sign up ourselves if we weren’t, you know, old.)
The price to attend the camp is just $50 for the week, as the goal is to create access to wellness and self-care without a huge price barrier. To help raise funds for the camp, Three Queens Yoga is hosting a special edition of Adelé’s Best of Philly award-winning Namaslay class.
The event will include the 90-minute Namaslay yoga class set to hip-hop divas and R&B classics. After, everyone will get to chow down on Honeygrow and Sweetgreen (both sponsors for the Girls who S.L.A.Y. camp) and sip some Funky Fresh Kombucha. And, if the weather’s nice, the party might even move outside into the twinkly light-filled courtyard outside of Three Queens, because #summertime. Plus, you’ll be able to join a raffle for some pretty great prizes: six-month memberships to Three Queens Yoga, Athleta gear, and The Pure Bag yoga bags.
Sound amazing? We agree. The Namaslay fundraiser is going down on Friday, June 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $35, and they can be purchased here.
