While most of us aren’t professional baseball players, that doesn’t negate us from participating in spring (or year-round for that matter) training! You might get where I’m going with this, but in case you don’t — Center City District is bringing back their Spring Training program at Dilworth Park. Yup, the one chock full of free pop-up workouts.
Spring Training kicks off on April 3 and will feature at least one workout per day every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until May 24. The pop-up classes — including yoga, boot camps, and yoga — will be lead by local trainers hailing from Optimal Sport Health Clubs while folks from the Rothman Institute will make appearances at some classes to offer tips on stretching and injury prevention. Why, you ask? Well, spring training doesn’t serve it’s purpose if you get injured for the season!
Let’s take a look at the schedule: Tuesdays are for two-a-days. Visit Dilworth Park at noon for a weekly BYO-mat yoga session to help break up your day with a nice stretch and sweat. Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. will offer up a boot camp-style workout full of bodyweight movements, games, boxing combinations, and more. Wednesdays are for cardio, and you can meet City Fit Girls at Dilworth at 6:30 p.m. for an all-levels welcome group run. Thursdays at 6 p.m. are for hip shakin’ with giant Zumba classes bringing a calorie-burning dance party to the park.
