This Philly Fitness Studio Now Offers Free Mommy-and-Me Fitness Classes

Listen up, working moms!

Nearly a year ago now, Be Well Philly’s Emily Leaman, then a new mom just coming back to work, wondered: Where are all the fitness classes for working moms? Because, while there are a good chunk of mommy-and-me fitness classes at studios around Philly, most of them fall during working hours.

After that post went up, a number of studios added mommy-and-me classes that accommodated working moms’ schedules, and now, we’ve got another one to add to the list — and it’s free. Starting this Saturday, Mount Airy’s newly opened Y2BFit Studio will be hosting a free mommy-and-me fitness class every second Saturday of the month.

As studio owner Crystal Widmann tells us, “There’s so much free fitness out there, but oftentimes moms can’t get child care to take advantage of it — or the cost of child care makes it not free for them!” This way, new moms can get in on the free fitness action, too.

To start, every second Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m., the studio will offer one of two classes: BYO Baby Barre, a class for moms with babies from six weeks to crawling age, where you’ll wear your baby in a front-carrier or sling while rebuilding strength in the areas weakened by pregnancy and delivery; or Baby and Me Yoga, a vinyasa flow class designed for parents and babies six weeks to crawling age. Come the new year, Widmann says they’ll be adding another a second free monthly Saturday class to accommodate moms with toddlers and older kids.

You can sign up for the first free mommy-and-me class, going down this Saturday, August 13th, here.
