Remember Tessa? If you need a reminder, she was the ridiculously cute pup we featured back in August, best known for sunning herself on the sidewalk. Well, she got adopted a little while ago, but she was recently returned when her new owners moved and couldn’t bring her with them. So, now she’s looking for her forever, forever home. Learn more about this run-loving gal below.

Name: Tessa

Age: 2 to 4 years old

Weight: 40 pounds

Breed: Pit Bull mix

Size: 40 pounds

Background: Tessa first came to PAWS as a skinny stray. She was adopted and did well in her new home, but her owners surrendered her when they had to move to housing that wouldn’t allow dogs. Through it all, she’s kept her smile.

Running style: Tessa enjoys running at a moderate pace, with occasional sprints, and — unlike pretty much every other dog on planet earth — doesn’t mind the rain. She does like to stop and investigate things and meet people, though.

Why Tessa is awesome: Tessa is a sturdy girl who gets along well with other dogs and is gentle with children. She would prefer a home without cats. If you put your face near Tessa’s, you’re guaranteed to get a kiss! She knows “sit” and will stay quietly in her crate while you’re gone from the house. All Tessa needs to be happy are a comfortable dog bed, a toy to chew, and a person (or two) to love! Maybe that’s you?

………..

We work with The Monster Milers each and every week to profile local running dogs waiting to be adopted. The Monster Milers are a group of runners who help shelter dogs burn off  energy and get much-needed exercise by taking them on runs around the city, and they also just launched their first-of-it’s-kind Adopt a Running Buddy foster program. If you’re not in the market for a pup right now, but would still love to help out homeless dogs, you can always become a Monster Miler volunteer or foster parent. Find out more about how to get started with those processes here
