New Gym in South Philly: Introducing 12Fit at the Marine Club

Yesterday, our friends over on Philly Mag’s Property blog gave us the heads up that a new gym, 12Fit Spa and Gym, veeeery quietly opened in South Philly last month inside the Marine Club apartment building at the corner of Broad and Washington. And yes, they’ve got a hot tub.

If the name 12Fit rings a bell, there’s good reason: 12Fit is an extension of Center City’s 12th Street Gym, and they’ve also got a location at the Loews Hotel at 12th and Market. As of right now, the new South Philly location, which opened its doors at the beginning of December, is mostly a self-serve fitness facility, complete with gym machines (the usual suspects: ellipticals, treadmills, weight machines, etc.), a hot tub, two steam rooms (one for men, one for women) and locker rooms. I say “self-serve,” because the gym is still working on getting their group-fitness schedule together; once that’s all squared away, they’ll also be offering boot camp and yoga classes to members.

For now, spa treatments are limited to massages, which you can book in advance, but they are hoping to have the rest of their spa operations up and running by late spring, with additional services like manicures, pedicures and facials available.

Memberships are available for both building residents and non-residents. Memberships for non-residents cost $39 per month. Anyone else hear the steam room calling their name?
