Saturday is World Vegan Day, so Philly is getting in on the fun with lots of meat-free events around town and in the ‘burbs. Philly.com’s V for Veg columnist Vance Lehmkuhl has the full rundown of events, but here are five of our don’t-miss foodie picks.

1. Vegan Philly Taco at Blackbird Pizzeria

There is nothing healthy about this, but whatever. It’s a vegan version of the infamous Philly taco, a cheesesteak wrapped in pizza. Bring your tums.

2. World Vegan Day Philadelphia Food Extravaganza with Penn Vegan Society

This vegan food tasting event will feature goodies from P.S. & Co., ABC Cakes, Naturally Sweet Desserts and more. Details here.

3. Thanksgiving Sandwich at Vegan Commissary

The Passyunk Square eatery will debut its Thanksgiving sandwich on Saturday, featuring grilled stuffing bread with chestnut puree, sweet potatoes, cranberry jam, green beans, mushroom gravy and fried onions. Proceeds from sandwich sales throughout the month of November will go to the holiday charities of the East Passyunk Crossing Community Board.

4. Humane League Fundraiser at Tattooed Mom

Fifty percent of sales from vegan items at this Queen Village bar will go to support the Humane League of Philadelphia.

5. Discounts at Hot Diggity

Get 20 percent of vegan hot dogs, burgers or wings at Hot Diggity on South Street by saying the magic words: Happy vegan day!
