Philly Running Clubs Offer More Than Just Exercise

Consider it your social networking opportunity

BABYSITTING / Call a week ahead, and for $10 or less, Fast Tracks Running Club provides a babysitter for up to three kids. So the five to 10-mile group runs through Valley Forge Park offer a little you time. $15 yearly membership.

SAFETY IN NUMBERS /  Ten to 70 people show up for each of the Fairmount Running Club’s park runs — Mondays on Kelly Drive, Saturdays along trails in Wissahickon Valley Park — as well as their Tuesday cross-training sessions on the Art Museum steps. Free.

A WAY TO GIVE BACK /  Students Run Philly Style will pair you with an at-risk teen, whom you’ll help train for local races. In return, you’ll get some cool perks (sneaks, waived race registration fees) and the joy of putting a kid on a positive track. Free.

BEER /
Inspired by a
Ph.D.’s finding that beer,
like water, can rehydrate a body, the Fishtown Beer Runners meet every Thursday for a three to five-mile jaunt that ends at a local pub. Free.
