Burgers, a Beer Garden and Live TV: This New Indoor-Outdoor Dining Experience Is What Philly Needed

The pandemic prompted a wave of innovation within the restaurant community, encouraging Philadelphia’s age-old favorites to rethink how they serve their famous dishes. City staples have rapidly expanded their food delivery and curbside pickup options, created meal prep kits for families to cook at home, and hosted virtual cooking and bartending classes. Now that physical locations are reopening, restaurants are getting creative by opening rooftop bars and expanding socially-distanced seating onto sidewalks.

Liberty Bell Gastropub is taking its “pivot” to the next level by bringing its menu to the Parx Casino Beer Garden. With a combination of outdoor dining and indoor open-air seating, the beer garden will provide diners with their favorites from the pub’s farm-to-fork menu.

New American Menu in an Indoor-Outdoor Beer Garden

The beer garden’s menu conveys a conscientious focus on an array of ingredients worth the attention. Dishes are crafted with ingredients locally sourced in Pennsylvania, including grass-fed beef, premium reserve pork, free-range chicken and locally grown produce. Meats are cooked French style: spit-roasted in state-of-the-art twin rotisserie at the restaurant’s custom-built rotisserie bar.

Customers can start their night off with mouth-watering apps like short-rib poutine and wild mushroom crostini, paired with a specialty cocktail or one of the 24 rotating craft beers on tap. If you come during happy hour, you can order discounted specials like gourmet burgers for $10, wings and poutine for $8, as well as $4 beers, $5 house-made sangria and $6 frozen cocktails of the day.

For diners hoping to indulge in a good burger, the menu includes a wide selection of beef, chicken and plant-based options, all with their own unique flare. Sandwiches are a house favorite, with featured options such as roast beef, grilled chicken BLT and pastrami reuben.

For dinner selections, the menu includes homestyle favorites like rotisserie free-range chicken, shepherd’s pie and steak ‘n chips, as well as other New American classics.

Socially-Distanced Entertainment

Liberty Bell Gastropub is known for combining live and televised entertainment with high-end dining. It’s now bringing that same energy to the beer garden, a gorgeous all-season patio with a fire pit, a giant widescreen TV and lawn games, combined with all-American craft beers, wines and specialty cocktails.

Most importantly, it’s bringing dining back safely, with rigorous protocols in place. All tables, chairs and other surfaces will be sanitized between seatings and every hour, and any common areas will be deep cleaned throughout the day. Disposable menus will be used once and thrown away, utensils will be sealed until the diner goes to use them, and contactless payment will be available. Employees will wear masks and gloves and receive temperature checks at the start of their shift.

With an ambience sure to put customers at peace amid high-stress times, this new pairing of Philadelphia favorites works to bring back a sense of normalcy to locals looking to get out of the house and enjoy a quality meal in a social setting. There’s no comfort like a good burger with steak fries, a cold beer and sports playing on the garden’s TV. As the country looks to safely reopen restaurants and entertainment, this year-round outdoor beer garden and restaurant will ensure customers always have somewhere to enjoy a fun lunch or a night out.

The garden will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. It’s located adjacent to Parx Casino Sportsbook, about 20 minutes north of Center City (parking available).
