On This Warm Fall Weekend, Philly Is Shutting Down More Streets for Outdoor Dining

Just in case you feel the need for a celebration, we have the full list of streets you can eat on in Philadelphia.

Earlier this year, as COVID wrecked everything, the city began shutting streets down to allow restaurants to offer expanded outdoor dining in Philadelphia. Back then, we didn’t really imagine ourselves eating outdoors in early November. But, well, the Philadelphia weather report tells us that it’s going to be sunny and in the 70s all weekend. And we are feeling like a celebration may be in order.

Fortunately, the city has announced that it’s shutting down even more streets for expanded outdoor dining in Philadelphia this weekend. And with next weekend’s Philadelphia weather forecast looking rainy and the inevitability of impending colder temperatures, this could be the last weekend when you can comfortably eat outdoors in Philadelphia. So grab your mask and check out where to support your favorite neighborhood restaurants in the list below.

Here is the full list of Philadelphia street closures:

East Passyunk Avenue: South 12th Street, from Morris Street to E. Passyunk Ave. Also, 1600 E. Passyunk Ave. (Saturday 11 a.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Midtown Village: South 13th Street, from Chestnut to Sansom Streets, from Sansom to Walnut Streets, and from Walnut to Locust Streets. Sansom Street, from South Juniper to South 12th Street and from South 12th Street to South 13th Street. Drury Street, from South Juniper to 13th Street. South Juniper, from Chestnut to Sansom Streets (Wednesday 2 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.; South Juniper, from Chestnut to Sansom Streets ONLY Monday 2 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.)

South 9th Street: From Federal to Ellsworth Streets and from Ellsworth to Washington Ave. (Friday 4 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

South Camac Street: From Manning to Locust Streets (Tuesday 2 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.); from St. James to Locust Streets (Tuesday 2 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.); and from Spruce to Cypress Streets (Tuesday 3 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Old City: South 2nd Street, from Market to Chestnut Streets (Wednesday 1 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Reading Terminal Market: Filbert Street, from 11th to 12th Streets (Thursday 9 a.m. through Wednesday 11:59 p.m.)

South Street Headhouse District: 400 Block of South 2nd Street, from Pine to Lombard Streets (Daily 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.). South Street, from 2nd to Hancock Streets (Sunday only 9 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.) and from South 4th to South 5th Streets (Thursday 3 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.). E. Passyunk Ave., from South to Bainbridge Streets (Thursday 3 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.). South Leithgow, from South to Bainbridge Streets (Thursday 3 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Rittenhouse Square: South 18th Street, from Locust to Walnut Streets and from Walnut to Sansom Streets. Sansom Street, from South 15th to South 16th Streets (Wednesday 4 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Manayunk: Conarroe Street, from Main to Cresson Streets (Daily 11 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.)

University City: 3400 Block of Sansom Street (Thursday 11 a.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Port Richmond: E. Clementine Street, from Gaul to Miller Streets (Friday 11 a.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Germantown: Maplewood Mall (Friday 3 p.m. through Sunday 11:59 p.m.)

Note that some of these street closures are new, while some have been shutting down for months. Also, note that some street closures extend beyond the weekend.
